Khichda Dish Hyderabadi
- 750 gms mutton, cut into small pieces
- 1 tbsp adrak-lasan paste
- 2 cups wheat, soaked overnight, drained, pounded and dehusked
- 2 tbsp rice
- 2 tbsp chana dal
- 2 tbsp masoor dal
- 2 tbsp masoor dal
- 2 tbsp tuvar dal
- 2 tbsp moong dal
- 2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tsp chilli powder
- A handful of kothmir, chopped
- A handful of pudina, chopped
- 5 tbsp ghee
- 2 onions, sliced fine and fried crisp
- Salt to taste
Wash dal and rice and soak before draining. Then pressure cook till tender. Set aside.
Apply the adrak-lasan paste to the mutton, add 1½ cups water and pressure cook till tender and remove.
Add 2 teaspoons oil to the wheat along with 2 cups water. Pressure cook till tender.
Mix mutton, wheat and dal and blend well, adding salt to taste, chilli powder, garam masala, fried onion, chopped pudina and kothmir.
Simmer, then pour hot ghee.
Serve with lemon slices.
