Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) National Park

Named after the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Kasu Brahmananda Reddy.

KBR national park is located at Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad. This park is spread over an area of more than 150 hectares, is established to safeguard the biodiversity of the place. Chiran Palace, which belongs to the former Nizam of Hyderabad, is seen here.

The park has around 600 species of flora. More than a hundred species of birds, besides scores of species of reptiles and butterflies and many species of mammals, although not large mammals, are seen here. It is an urban refuge for rare species of fauna such as Monitor Lizards, Jungle Cats, Wild Boars and varieties of snakes.

Mrugavani National Park

Mrugavani National Park is located at Chilkur in Moinabad mandal, 25 km from Hyderabad and covers an area of 3.5 square miles.

It is home to a 600 different types of plant life. The animals include: the black naped hare, forest cat, civet, Indian rat snake, Russell's viper, cheetal and the flower pecker.

Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park

Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park is located at Vanasthalipuram, 15 kilometers from Hyderabad. Mahavir Harina Vanasthali Wildlife Sanctuary in Hyderabad has been named after the holy Jain saint 'Lord Mahavira'. Established in 1975. The National Park was once the exciting 'Shikargarh' or hunting ground of one of the Nizam rulers. It has now been converted into a protected national park under the law. The park is in full bloom during monsoons when beautiful flowers of different colors blossom all around. Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park is home to the endangered Black Buck deer. An estimated 400 deer roam around the National Park fearlessly.

The other species of animals that are found over here are cheetahs, wild boar, monitor lizards, mongooses, porcupines and innumerable variety of snakes. Several species of birds like partridges, quails, peacocks, doves, pond herons, egrets, kingfishers, cormorants are also found here in great numbers.
